INTRODUCING: Smyth House x Palo Santo Copal Collection

A lighting line rooted in ritual and soul.

Modern kitchen interior featuring sculptural black clay pendant lights over a stone island, layered wood cabinetry, open shelving, and woven bar stools, styled in a warm, minimalist luxury aesthetic.

Great lighting doesn’t just illuminate a space, it defines how it feels. Copal, the Smyth House x Palo Santo lighting collection, is a collaboration born from a shared belief that craftsmanship, materiality, and emotion belong at the center of design.

This is not lighting as utility. It’s lighting as art. Handcrafted clay pendants designed to transform the atmosphere and rooms into emotional experiences.

Design as Ritual

Large sculptural clay pendants resting in a traditional kiln workshop, handcrafted for the Smyth House x Palo Santo Decor lighting collection.

Copal Lighting Collection emerged from a shared philosophy between Smyth House and Palo Santo: that the objects we live with should be chosen thoughtfully, made intentionally, and meant to be enjoyed over time. Rooted in intentional living and creative restraint, this collaboration reflects a mutual respect for artistry, material honesty, and the human hand.

Every decision, from form to finish was guided by one essential question: How should a space feel?

A Partnership Rooted in Craft

In a small workshop in Mexico, artisans shape raw clay into sculptural forms. Each Copal pendant is pressed, carved, smoothed, and fired entirely by hand using time-honored techniques passed down through generations.

The process is slow. Intentional. Deeply human.

Every piece of this lighting collection carries the imprint of its maker — organic texture, subtle variation, and sculptural character that can’t be replicated. No two pendants are exactly alike. And that’s the point.

This is where craft meets creative vision.

Sculptural Light, Designed to Be Felt

Copal pendants are designed to do more than light a room. They soften it. Ground it. Give it presence.

Each form transforms light into a warm, diffused glow — adding depth, atmosphere, and emotional resonance to interiors. Whether styled as a singular statement or layered into a larger design story, Copal brings quiet impact without excess.

Timeless. Grounded. Quietly powerful.

It’s functional art.
Designed to anchor a space.
Designed to be felt.

Styling Copal

Copal pendants are designed for statement moments throughout the home:

  • Over kitchen islands for sculptural warmth
  • Above dining tables to create intimacy
  • In bedrooms as a grounding bedside glow
  • In entryways to set the emotional tone upon arrival

The key is restraint — allowing each piece the space to breathe and exist as a focal point.
