Your bedroom is your sanctuary, it’s where you rest and recharge.
It should be an escape from reality and a place for you to truly feel at home. For many of us, a big part of feeling at home is loving the space we are in. Comfort is at the top of the list, and we hear time and again that the primary bedroom is up there when it comes to our client’s priorities. Is there anything better than a cozy bed and a space where you simply relax?!
We set out to discover the most comfortable, luxurious bedding for our clients, and we are here to tell you: It’s an investment. One we believe is well worth it; a good night sleep reigns high in our book. We plan to round that up for you in a future journal, but for today, we’re actually honing in on ways to refresh your space without breaking the bank.
Despite our love for nice things, hotel-like linens and impressive details, we know how incredibly costly it can be to fully design and furnish a bedroom. And frankly, sometimes that just isn’t the top priority when it comes to the budget. Main areas tend to take priority.
This is why we have put together this helpful ‘guide’ to help you elevate your own bedroom. Whether it be your primary bedroom or a spare room, these tips are sure help spruce up your space and have you zenning out in no time.
1. Make your bed
Don’t worry about making it ‘fancy’… Just start with the basics: A comforter or duvet, some euros + a lumbar pillow, and a fun throw at the foot of your bed is our go to method. If you want to add a pop of color to the space, this is a great place to do it.
2. Mix materials, patterns + colors
Incorporating various textures and mixing materials in a space makes it feel styled + interesting. Believe it or not, it’s the tiny details that really make a big impact when it comes to design. When selecting bedding, try mixing subtle (or bold!) patterns, varying colors and different materials. (For example: Opt for a solid comforter + euro pillows, a textured lumbar in a different hue, and a chunky woven throw.) Continue to play with texture throughout the entire space by introducing other elements you are drawn to; metal, cement, wood, rattan, ceramics, and so on.
3. Decorate your walls
Wall decor is an easy + quick way to instantly elevate any space. Especially if you want to go more minimal in other areas; Filling empty wall space will make a room feel complete! Depending on the vibe you are looking to achieve, you can use smaller art prints in mis-matched frames and hang them in a gallery style arrangement, or select individual larger pieces. It’s incredible what mirrors, wall hangings or artwork can do for a space. And don’t forget to check your closet… Fashion ‘art’ just might be staring right back at you.
Whether you are looking to change up your current bedroom vibe or quickly decorate a spare room before guests come to town, selecting some killer lighting will quickly get the job done. If you have nightstands or side tables, go on a hunt for some lamps that pack a punch. Got a ceiling light that just isn’t doing it for you? Time for a change! Source a fixture that will make a statement and really set the tone of the space. Not only will bedside sconce lights give your space an elevated feel, they’re just plain nice to have! Any way you go, just remember: Lighting is the jewelry of the home. It’s your opportunity to dress it up.
We could truly go on and on…
